Simplify And Stay On The Message

Make your message straightforward. A lot of people get this wrong when it comes to communication. The length of the message does not matter, and neither does it matter to use huge words, especially when communicating in English. Make sure that whatever you intend to spill out, do it simply and in detail. Do not assume that listeners know what you are saying. Explain in detail but concisely

Engage Your Listeners

While communicating, make sure that you engage your audience to make them know that you are on the same page with them. You can do this by asking them questions about what you are talking about, turning to their side to talk, and giving them a reason to give you their undivided attention. Oftentimes, communicators can hook the attention of their listeners with the kind of introduction given. If you are about to give a speech or a presentation, make sure your introduction is catchy, this way, the audience will be glued to you in anticipation of what next you will say.

Take time to send feedback

For communication to be successful, there should always be feedback between interlocutors. The act of giving out feedback to whoever deserves shows that what was intended to be done or said has been done already. Feedback could be in the form of giving answers to questions when asked, replying to emails and messages, and even returning missed calls.

It shows that you respect them enough and you probably want to know more about something. Whichever way it is, make sure there is complete communication between you and your listeners. Always take time to respond to the listener.

Make sure you are understood

What is communication without being understood?  Think about what you are trying to communicate and come out clear and precise. There is no point in going around in circles when you can just hit the nail on the head.

You can know that you are communicating if listeners are giving you feedback by nodding, or showing that they are following what you are saying. If you get a hint that you are not well understood, you may repeat yourself for clarification. You will detect that you are not being understood by the way the audience gives back feedback and through their body language.

Choose the perfect medium to send the information, it could be through a text message, an email, a DM, a call, or even a letter.

Body language technique

Your body language is a great medium for communication but fewer people know about this. Sometimes when words are not used, body language does the talking. Having mastery over your body language makes you a pro when it comes to communication. Body language includes the way you sit, the way your arms are folded, your facial expressions, handshakes, gestures, and eye contact. Good eye contact when communicating physically says a lot about your personality. Some people study body language just so that they will improve their communication and relationship with others. Building a good relationship with humans build on your network and human capital.

Check your tone

One thing can be said several times but can give a wrong signal just by the use of the tone of your language. The tone is not only seen when speaking, or when swriting but the tone is also seen in the use of font sizes.  Capitalizing words while texting, emailing, or sending an SMS can show that you are shouting or emphasizing those words. The tone we use to communicate informs the one listening about how we feel.
