You want me to think of death as a friend,
saying if we saw it as a welcome gate,
To a world beyond our sight,
that it wouldn't pounce on us as hard as it does?
For real?

that if we saw that vile creature
filled with so much angst as an angel
Who ends our suffering
and sets us free from life's exhausting labour,
that it wouldn't hurt as much as it does?
